Week of Sept 10-16

Ludacris Incognegro
Disturbing the Peace Entertainment
Atlanta’s Hot 97.5 air personal Ludacris (Chris Luva Luva) steps forth and unleashes his debut CD. This by far has to be one of this years best independent releases. Ludicris rhyme delivery is very skilled and metaphoric not to be compared to AM Southern MC’s Organized Noise and Jermaine Dupri, lending a helping hand on production, but the majority is held down by Ludacris and Shondrae. Stand out cuts are "U got a Problem", "Game got Switched", "Ho" man fuck it the whole CD is bangin.

Lil Kim Notorious K.I.M.
Atlantic Records
Lil’ Kim return after a 4 year hiatus, with her long awaited sophomore release. She serves up an 18-song masterpiece, that makes us realize were female emcees like Foxy Brown and Trina get their style from. On cuts like "How Many Licks", "Suck My Dick", and "She Don’t Love You" Kim let’s us know who’s the Queen of Sex talk. She also destroys all rumors about not writing her own rhymes on "Custom Made" and "Who’s Number One?" Kim by far gives us in my opinion one of the best releases by a female MC in the history of hip-hop.

Deep South Hostile Takeover
Deep South Records
Deep South returns to the underground scene with their second underground release. This time around Deep South didn’t come alone, the other nine by some of the Atlanta’s Underground finest. Stand out cuts on this CD are, "They Scared", "30 or Better", Break em Off", "Local Busta", And the thug anthem "Beat Em Down". Out the trunk Kings Red Clay Warriors make a lyrical stance with "This Red Clay". The most shocking track on the CD is the cut "Broke Boy" which Deep South rips Miracle a new ass. If you’re into the thug shit, make sure you pick up Deep South.

Ruff Ryders Ryde or Die vol. II
Ruff Ryders/Interscope Records
Upon hearing their was going to be a part 2 to ryde or die I was immediately excited. Upon Ruff Ryders returns they didn’t return with their veterans holding it down, as before instead this CD seems like a warm-up for the 2nd string. DMX and Eve only appeared on two cuts. Atlanta’s rookie Yung Wun blesses the mike for three cuts. Swizz Beats Production style is really beginning to sound repetitive. Standout cuts are "WWII", "2 Tears in a Bucket", "Holiday", and "Ryde or Die Boyz". I really expected more, but got less that’s hip-hop for YA!
