Although Atlanta has been making a name for itself in recent years became of groups like OutKast, Goodie Mobb, and Jermaine Dupree, Michaelangelo feels that Atlanta still has not been represented to the fullest, and he's on a mission to show the world that if you got it, you got it. Geographical location shouldn't have any bearing on lyrical ability. He has had to prove himself time and time again in numerous late night after club cyphers with cats from up north who automatically assume that brothers from the south don't have the venacular to hold his own. They found out the hard way that it's the wrong thing to assume. "I believe that Hip-Hop should remaine pure and true to the heart of the artist, but the artist still has to change with the times to be able to satisfy the new generation that grows up listening to it. but not to the point of making anything just to make money at the expense of the young generation's nievtity." - Michaelangelo Of course, Michaelangelo wants to profit from his art, but he definitely is not in it "just to make money", this brother eats, sleeps, and breathes Hip-Hop music and culture. Michaelangelo concludes: "Hip-Hop for me personally is an expression of anger, pain, rebelliousness, and dissatisfaction with a system that oppresses black and latino youth. Hip-Hop is also a theraputic outlet to express your emotions when you feel you can't talk to anybody. It's nothing but poetry set to a beat, captured in a syncopated rhythm, and it's all I got." |
