HipHopEncounter: So, who are the members of No Surrender? No Surrender: Dirty P-No, Big Wee, and Mr. Mastanino. HHE: So let everyone know where the group come from. NS: (Dirty) Atlanta, GA. (Big) United States!!! Naw, really doe, The A-T-L, the capital--Pool Creek to be exact. HHE: What's gonna make fans feel No Surrender? What's gonna separate yall from other groups? NS : We bring a different flavor to the game. Most A-T-L groups have that same ole underground bass sound. We come with a more universal sound, something' for everybody. HHE: I've checked out the album and I think it's gonna do big thangs. What producers did yall work with? NS : Midnite Black, he did the entire album. He also worked with JT Money and Sammie. Our album features a lot of artists like: T-Bone, Jett Ski, and Nyoo & Decooca from the Rhyme & Reason STRK.
HHE: How'd they come about? NS : Our manager just pulled some strings. They heard the track and were down. HHE: Why the name, No Surrender? NS: (Big Wee) I was just chillin' at home and thought of it. (Dirty) We just click to clack. He came up wit it, but we all agreed. It means we ain't surrendering. No matter who knocks us down, we goin' to keep strivin' till we succeed. we goin' to stand our ground. HHE: Being new artists, has it been hard for you to get into the game? NS: (Dirty) It's been a struggle, Shawty. We been in this thang seven years. It ain't easy. HHE: Yall look young. NS : (Dirty) We started off young. I started at 12. (Big Wee) I started at 10. We been trying for a minute. You gotta just believe and keep trying. HHE: Have yall been doin' shows? NS: Yeah. The Atrium with UGK and Mystikal. Studio Central with KRS One. On the Rocks in Macon, Georgia. At Club 2000 and many small venues. HHE: What's a No Surrender Show like? NS: (Big Wee) Off the heezy. (Dirty) When you come to our show bring towels 'cause you goin' to get crunk. Be ready to get your dancin' shoes on. We even got somethin' for the ladies to get their boogie down on. HHE: Any lip syncing? NS: On, no! (Big Wee) Strictly original! We started out rapping without music. Just us and the mic. Straight freestylin'. HHE: So, do yall still have the freesytle skills and do yall feel it's important? NS: No doubt. Fa sho. HHE: Who were your inspirations? NS: (Mr. Mastanino) OutKast, 8-Ball. (Dirty) Rakim, L.L. (Big Wee) Cube, Dr. Dre. HHE: What should a fan expect from each individual emcee on this album? NS: (Mr. Mastanino) A lot of realness, somethin' they haven't heard before. That new fire. (Dirty) I bring that flare, the spark. When you hear me on the mic, you're gonna feel me. (Big Wee) I bring that heat. HHE: What's the name of the album? NS: Burn It Down. He's the fire, I'm the spark, and he's the heat. HHE: What was the mindset of the single, Burn It Down? NS: We just setting the industry on fire. HHE: What's the name of your label and who can we expect next? NS: Ghetto World Entertainment. Midnite Black's beat, Money & Sex, Mr. Thang's "Diaries of a Hood" and T-Bone. HHE: Who would yall like to work with in the future? NS: Nelly, Lil Kim, and 3-6 Mafia. HHE: How do you feel about the A-T-L Hip Hop scene? NS: We feel this is the best place for a rapper to be. A lot of other rappers from areas are emulating our (A-T-L) sound.
NS: We're the best. Most of our artists are from the streets, so when they spit, its from the heart and people can relate. HHE: Five years from now, where do you see No Surrender? NS: (Mr. Mastanino) Everywhere. On your kids' wall, billboards, on the side of your shoe. HHE: What advice do you give up and coming artists?
NS: (Dirty) Get your priorities straight and keep God first. (Mr. Mastanino) Work hard, stay in it, even if you get jerked around. (Big Wee) Keep it real. Keep strivin' and you'll make it.
