Slick Tra

11 years in the game and still going. That's what Mr. Tracy "Slick TRA" Porter has put in the game. From 1990 he was an in house producer at Ghetto Style Studio owned by "Diamond" of Diamond and D-Roc who gained fame for their hit "Bank Head Bounce" Epic Records. 1992 he became a hot local artist doing shows/showcases with artists such as OutKast, Kris Kross, TLC, P.A., and a host of others. He began opening shows for artists such as DJ Quik, MC Lyte, Mack 10, JT Money, Ice Cube, Luke, Tupac, DJ Jimi, and many others. Back then Slick TRA was called The Villain, he was offered many major/independent contracts but turned them down because he felt he didn't know the game well enough.

1992-1993 Slick Tra began working for Suave House Records under G-Wallace now A&R at Def Jam. He invated the hoods of ATL with the 1st of three Eightball & MJG albums, South Circle, and broke the 1st Crime Boss Album here in the ATL and made ATlanta Suave House's #1 Market. 199401996 Slick Tra took an office job at Power/Triad Records as head of Radio & Street Promotions. He pushed the 1st two Ghetto Mafia albums, Freak Nasty's hit "The DIP" which went platinum.

199601997 he started Dirty Work Entertainment where he began doing street promotion for Major and Indie labels such as: Profile, Big Beat 'Jr. Mafia, DFC Crew, and the Hard Boys. He also pushed Death Row's 2pac "All Eyez On Me", Rap-A-Lot, 40 Street, Sick Wit It "E-40", Interscope, Priority Records, Select-O-Hits "3-6 Mafia" and a gang of independent labels. Slick Tra had gained much information about the music game in those 7 years of street promotions, radio & retail tracking, road managing, marketing/artist developing independent labels started hiring him to set up their companies, train the staff, and put together promotional tours/release parties.

1998 Slick Tra released his group effort "Organized Thuggs" which sold 16,000 independently before being picked up by Power/Road Runner/RED Distributions in 1999 which went on to sell over 73,000 nationwide. While maintaining as an artist/well known promoter, Slick Tra was blowing up Black Dave's "Go Big Mama" throughout the south which helped fun Dirty Work the Recording label. As an artist in "Organized Thuggs" he performed with big named artists such as Eightball & MJG, Ja Rule, Mystikal, Eve, Hot Boyz, Master P Three-6 Mafia, Goodie MOb, and others.

Now it's 2001 and Slick Tra is back with his 1st solo album entitled Tra Day. This album is said to be one of the hottest albums to be released out of the south since Ludacris's release stated (Music Insiders). The album is a mix of Down South/West Coast/East Coast all rolled into one. The album is Super Hot and will do big numbers for him. Tra Day is due to be released on December 11, 2001. Slick Tra is also acting in movies, he has a role in the up and coming movie "The Frat" that will hit movie theaters nationwide in 2002. Slick Tra is starring in a straight to video movie called "Trying 2 Get a Meal Ticket" which is a comedy/drama like Friday due to be released March 2002. Dirty Work plans to make major moves this year so watch how Slick Tra blows. When asked why he called the album Tra Day, he replied "Dr. Dre had his...now it's mines."
