DC-6 Ghetto Glory
Shownuff Records
ATLANTA seems to be the new hot bed for independent rap, so its only right for DC-6 to represent. This three man crew spit straight reality-filled lyrics. The tracks were laid down by Slick B Productions and, I say, there's a perfect blend. My favorite cut is "Peep Mine". It's about violators and haters all up in your business. "Money Talk" with the Project Squad and "Hang 'Em High" are also bangin'. DC-6's style resembles CMP & Diablos, who, I think, are affiliates of the group. DC-6 also drop some heartfelt lyrics on "Keep It Real". After a release as hot as this, on DC-6 will.
GODSON (Demo)
D.B.S. Management
Hip Hop is in a state of emergency and DBS Management recording artist, Godson , is here to save us all. First off, I'd like to say this is not your average gospel rap. It's two notches above. The production which is done by P.I. Productions is on some major label stuff. "The Truth" is just that....Godson putting it down, letting us know what we need to know what we need to know, not what we want to hear. " I'll Be Hated" has Godson spitting righteous rhymes about how the world will view him after he drops the dime on the devil. Unlike a lot of gospel hip hop, Godson is the real deal, meaning real emcee, real Christian, and real beats. Majors don't sleep on the Truth.
Oz Soundtrack
Avatar
HBO's fictitious jail drama, "Oz" , has a theme filled CD release. Each emcee took aspects of the show to bring life to the music. Krayzie Bone on "Shackle Up" rhymes/sings about what got him in trouble as he rides the bus to the pen. "Oz", the theme has Kool GRap, Lord Jamar, and Talib Kweli taking a political stance against the corrupt system. Devin, the Dude, addresses his brother through a letter on "Can't Wait" with a host of other talented MCs such as Snoop Dogg, Kurupt, Wu Tang Clan, Master P, et cetera. Make this soundtrack a must buy.
Snoop Dogg Tha Last Meal
No Limit
Long Beach rider, Big Snoop Dogg , is back with his fifth release, his third on No Limit Records. Snoop titled this CD, "Tha Last Meal" because it's his last for any other label. I must say, this CD is super-tight, his best since Doggy Style. After two superb releases on No Limit, Snoop has returned to his West Coast roots. With production by Cali's Finest, Dr. Dre, Meech Wells, Jelly Roll, and Soopafly, Snoop bobs and weaves his way back to greatness. "Snoop Dogg", the first single, was produced by Timbaland and has Snoop ripping a track that will appeal to all. Unlike his last three releases, Snoop seems to be having fun again and it shows in his music and rhyme flow. "Back Off Me" is a southern club banger featuring Master P which is this disc's only true downfall. All true Snoop Dogg fans really need to check this release.
